Hundreds of thousands of people gathered last night at the Shenzhen Civic Square and atop Lianhua Hill to watch the May Day-themed light show delivered by 1.18 million sets of lights installed on 43 buildings in the Futian CBD.

Shenzhen Bay Park, which has been receiving more than 200,000 visits every day since April 30, is offering a variety of cultural events for visitors to enjoy, including the 2023 Shenzhen Bay Summer Concert. The concert, which is part of the 2023 Shenzhen Park Festival, is performed by the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, the China National Opera & Dance Drama Symphony Orchestra, the China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra and famous singers, and features music pieces from home and abroad. The concert is held at the Sunrise Theater of Shenzhen Bay Park every day from May 1 to 3. Entry is free.

Shenzhen Design Week, an international design festival, kicked off today, featuring eight theme activities. The event, which will run through May 6, will bring in a larger conversation that will benefit all the cities everywhere with voices from Shenzhen and other design cities, design industry insiders from home and abroad said.

To mark the 28th World Book and Copyright Day and the eighth Eighth Shenzhen Minors Reading Day, Shenzhen is holding more than 1,000 activities for citizens to advocate creating a daily reading habit. According to Shenzhen Library, the “City of Library” network prepared 1,164 reading activities for residents. Among them were 756 offline and 359 online activities, respectively, and 49 were held simultaneously online and offline.
